The United States Law enforcement authorities have made significant breakthroughs into the assassination attempt on the former United States President and the Republican Presidential Aspirant, Mr Donald Trump.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the assailant was a local Pennsylvania resident, one Thomas Matthew Crooks whom the Secret Service swiftly neutralised, before he could cause further harm. Thomas Matthew Crooks was from the relatively affluent and predominantly white suburb of Bethel Park near Pittsburgh.
Though not carrying any identification during the attack, law enforcement officials announced that they were nearing an identification of the shooter during a press conference on Saturday night. Lt. Col. George Bivens said, “The shooter has been tentatively identified,” he said. “It’s a matter of doing biometric confirmations.”
Mr Donald Trump The former United States of America president and 2024 Republican presidential Candidate, was shot and escorted off the stage at his rally in Pennsylvania.
The former president who held his ears and fell to the ground while giving a speech was quickly surrounded by security details and was down for about a minute before he was moved out of the stage by the Secret Service. Trump however quickly pumped signaled to his supporters that he was not severely hurt. He was later escorted off stage into a vehicle and driven away from the venue.
Mr J.D Vance, a Republican senator for Ohio, said in a post on his X social media handle: “Everyone join me in praying for our President Trump and everyone at that rally. I hope everyone is ok.”
