The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has justified his rift with Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State saying it is politics if he demands N20 billion monthly and is allowed to award all the contracts to himself. Wike said it is the right thing to be done.
According to the FCT Minister, “If I Demand N20 billion every month and even award all the contracts to myself, that’s politics. Where was he when I was fighting?
The immediate past Governor of River State, Wike, made this known when he was addressing journalists in Abuja asking where Fubara was when he was fighting.
He however vowed to remain politically relevant and maintain his structure not minding all sorts of accusations.
In his words, “I have to be politically relevant and I must maintain my political structure. I can’t allow anybody to cut me out immediately. “If you like accuse me all you like, I won’t have a sleepless night because the right thing must be done.”
The rift between Wike and Fubara led to attempts by some members of the state assembly to impeach the governor. The incumbent governor, Fubara, however, resisted the attempts.
In a video recently going viral on the social media, the former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose was seen warning Governor Fubara during a social gathering to be very careful with Wike. He warned him that Wike’s problem is unbearable, hence, that the incumbent Governor should see only what he is allowed to see and should not see beyond that.
