A report reaching our news desk has confirmed a bloody clash between Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Amotekun, Operation Burst, Soludero and a group of herdsmen on Monday in Iwerele, Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State. Crops worth thousands of naira were also said to have been destroyed in the process, an incident which has thrown the entire community into a state of panic.
The attack was said to be bloody and left many dead. However, the cause of the clash is still sketchy and no detailed information received.
Nevertheless, speaking to our reporter, a titled Chief in the community confirmed the incident. According to him, he said a group of herdsmen invaded a farm in Iwerele with their cattle and grazed on it. While protesting on the herdsmen action, the situation led to an argument which later metamorphose to the demise of the owner of the farm.
It was noted that combined security operatives of Operation Burst, OPC, Amotekun and Soludero who were informed to come to the rescue and restore peace in the community were allegedly ambushed by unknown herdsmen.
