WHO IS ASARI DOKUBO? WHO IS THE ENEMY OF NIGERIA? DOKUBO OR THE MILITARY??
WHEN A CAT FEELS LIKE A TIGER
A common saying in Yoruba says, “It takes a thief to know a thief”. In 1948, in a bid to protect his country’s security information from invasive media toxins, the Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion, summed up his strategy in one phrase, saying, “Take the thief and make him guard.” Nevertheless, I believe and am sure, you, my reader knows, that a thief would remain a thief even if he is made the lead guard in the palace or even, the Balogun (warlord) of a kingdom.
Some years ago, a man, whose only success was to drop out of school, specifically, University of Calabar after only three years in 1990. This same man made other attempts to complete his education but his unpatriotic pursuit of blood money caused him to quit on his degree at Rivers State University of Science and Technology for reasons similar to those at Calabar, Cross River state. Secured Naija postulated in one of our articles on National Security that, activism is not patriotism, many activists engaged in the business of activism for their selfish interest. One of them is the man we are about to reveal.
We should not forget that there is a man who hit the airwaves recently to express his grievances over the N48 billion pipeline surveillance contract awarded by the federal government to Global West Vessel Specialist Limited, a private maritime security firm founded by Tompolo, an erstwhile Commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).
CRIMES AGAINST THE STATE
- This same man would go on to create the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF), which emerged as major facilitator for unrest in the Niger Delta region of our great Nation. The NDPVF, a militant, revolutionary, belligerent group, was said to have been funded in large or in part by local, regional and international enemies of the Nation who sought great profits from the region’s oil revenue. The NDPVF, a selfish organisation quickly escalated an armed conflict with a rival group, known as the Niger Delta Vigilante (NDV), another selfish organisation, seeking to control the Delta’s oil resources as both groups engaged in oil ‘bunkering’ and other illegal forms of crimes against the local and national resources.
- This same man’s criminal organisation called NDPVF then made a declaration of war against the Nigerian state after his financier backed out and started financing the opposition criminal elements under NDV.
- This man’s threats to investors to attack oil wells and pipelines caused companies to withdraw most of their staff from the Delta which affected our dear nation drastically as there was a massive drop in oil production of 30,000 barrels per day.
- This same criminal rejected a peace talk with the Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and also refused to endorse his government.
- This same man was arrested and charged with treason but later released by President Umaru Musa Yaradua during his Amnesty Programme.
- The same man was receiving a mouth watering payment of the sum of 10 Million United State Dollars yearly from Abuja for being a criminal, to persuade him not to attack our dear Nation’s oil pipelines.
- This same man in 2013, undermined the citizenship of this great nation, and alternatively settled for Benin Republic citizenship where he later moved his wealth to, and built several expensive schools, colleges and a university, the wealth he made from our common wealth. The man did not consider the Niger Delta Region, where he proved he was fronting for their emancipation; good enough for those expensive schools, the children in those villages, towns and cities are not qualified to go to schools, but Benin children.
This man is the notorious Niger Delta chief militant, repentant but unrepentant, Asari Dokubo, who is seeing himself as an hero, a patriot and force to reckon with in National development and growth. Because he has been recommended by his com-unpatriots to be awarded contracts worth millions of dollars to protect the nations, oil facilities. A wrong step in the wrong direction, we opined.
That was the same man who confidently sat in front our National Coat of Arms, the solemn symbol of the authority of the government and of the sovereignty of the Nigerian State and addressed the State House correspondents in Abuja, who also pathetically sat lively listening to him after his meeting with President Bola Tinubu. He foolishly boasted of his efficiency as a protection entrepreneur, what a pity.
DOKUBO COMMENTS ABOUT OUR HEROES; THE NIGERIAN MILITARY IS A CRIME
That was the same unpatriotic elements who attacked our heroes, the Nigerian Military of oil theft. He also alleged that “it is an act of blackmail for the military to say that they have insufficient armaments to deal with insecurity, accusing them of forfeiting their weapons to the insurgents, which continued to fuel the insurgency”. What an ignorance!!! We wont want to hold brief for the Nigerian Military in this regards, nevertheless, the military must invite or arrest Asari Dokubo to expatiate on his allegations. He must be ready to give names, give instances and show evidences of those weighty allegations. The military has sacrificed so much for the nation for a notorious criminal kingpin to have the courage to attack its reputation. That can only happen in a lawless society, Nigeria is not one. You cannot play politics with National Security. Because Dokubo is close to our unique President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and he wants the 48 billion dollars pipeline surveillance contract to be taken away from another warlord, Tompolo and given to him should not make him to speak garbage and blasphemy.
We are not in any way saying there are no bad eggs in the military, all organisations, even churches and mosques have their weak points. All organisations is as strong as their weakest point, which make them vulnerable to this kind of attacks, but bringing patriots and men of value and respect which Dokubo is not into an embarrassing condemnation like this could puncture the morale of our troops who despite their sacrifices and integrity are not enjoying the wealth being enjoyed by types of Dokubo who followed the pathway of dishonesty, gunrunning, corruption and stealing of public resources to write their names on mud.
AN ELDER POINT OF VIEW
We totally aligned with a retired general who posited that Asari Dokubo should be apologising to Nigerians for the evils he has done to the nation and for his unpatriotic activities to the Nation in general and the people of Niger Delta. Speaking on Arise TV, General Haruna said people like Asari Dokubo lacks the moral right to speak on oil theft in the country unless he wants to apologise to Nigerians.
According to him, “Is Asari Dokubo free from oil theft? Is he not a beneficiary of oil theft? How did he finance his empire over there? Maybe he is accusing soldiers and lower people who steal ‘jerrycans’ of petrol while he is behind the stealing and enjoyment of millions of dollars stashed in their bank accounts.
The former commissioner of information said, “I think talking about Dokubo and others is because of the impact of security and its operations have failed. Those who are accessing the military and other services, they point one finger at the military and the other three are pointing at them.
“In the Nigerian situation, they cannot get to where they’ve gotten if the spills of oil are not dripping from their ears and mouths”, he blasted.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ASARI DOKUBO
In this vein, Secured Naija calls on Asari Dokubo to:
- Apologise to the Nation’s heroes, the Nigerian Military for such unpatriotic comments.
- Apologise to Nigerians for his unpatriotic activities against the nation and Nigerians which is one of the factors that brought the nation to this level.
- Apologise to Niger Delta people for undermining them and moving their resources to invest in Benin Republic considering them as more important than the Niger Deltans.
- Bring back his investments to Nigeria or reinvest in Nigeria from those wealth illegally acquired from Nigerian people if truly he is a repentant militant and patriots.
- Move his security company to Sambisa forest while he commands as the company commander to offer his acclaimed assistance on ending insecurity to show his patriotism to the Nation. He should not focus on Niger Delta but North East.
TO OUR DEAR PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU GCFR
The President has indeed started on a very good and clean slate. There have been good comments both internally and from the international communities on the courage of the President to stop illegalities and win the support of the Nigerian populace.
The president has a unique plans for Nigeria, he should not get cut in the web of unpatriotic elements who looks like activist but their activism is for business as usual. Such association could stain his white garment which he has already washed, getting dried and gaining public acceptance. While there are many citizens who believe the white garment still has lot of stains, other millions are not seeing any stain but the pure white garment that will reflect and impact on Nigeria’s stained green white green. The reflection is expected by millions Nigerians to end the activities of parasitic elements grip on our nation, that will halt terrorism, hunger, poverty, unemployment , corruption and fake patriotism.
Hence, people like Asari Dokubo does not have any moral justification to approach not to talk of advising the seat of power and our sovereignty. The president could therefore desist from encouraging such in the future. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
