Policemen of the Ogun State Command has arrested four notorious suspected armed robbers one month after they carried out an operation in the state. The suspects were said to have been arrested following a report lodged at Sango divisional headquarters on March 20, 2023, by one Adeleye Sunday who reported that he was attacked by some armed hoodlums at about 5:30 am in the Joju area of Sango-Ota. SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Oyeyemi gave the names of the four suspected robbers as Rabiu Seyidu (37), Sherrif Kamoru (28), Opeyemi Adebayo (26) and Ajibola Fakolade (21) saying four of them were members of a robbery syndicate terrorising Sango Otta and its environs in the state.
According to him, Oyeyemi said, “He (Victim) stated further that the hoodlums dispossessed him of his two phones after inflicting a matchet cut on his neck and syphoned the sum of N600,000 from his account through the bank’s app on the phone.
Oyeyemi further explained thus, “Upon the report, the DPO Sango-Ota division, CSP Saleh Dahiru, detailed his detectives to technically trace the suspects. The detectives swung into action,acting on credible intelligence, the hideout of the suspects was located and four of them were arrested.”
Items recovered from the suspects are one cutlass, one techno POP 2f belonging to the victim and a nose mask used by one of them during the operation.
The suspects were said to have since been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution based on the Commissioner’s directive.
