CHEERS ACCOLADES PRAYERS TEARS OF JOY AS COAS COMMISSIONS BOREHOLE RENOVATED SCHOOL OTHERS IN LAGOS
The residents of Mushin in Lagos were full of appreciation as they cheered, prayed while some other shed tears of joy as the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, as part of the Civil Military Cooperation activities of the Nigerian Army, donated a borehole to ease the water problem in the area and also commissioned a Renovated/furnished Alafia Oluwa Primary School Mushin.
Speaking at the commissioning, the COAS described the project as one of his special Intervention Civil Military Cooperation projects aimed at winning the hearts and minds of Nigerians by complementing existing infrastructures. He added that the Nigerian Army belongs to Nigerians and as such they must partner in ensuring that Nigeria is safe and secured. He expressed gratitude to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari for his unflinching support and reaffirmed the unlloyed loyalty of the officers and soldiers of the NA.
The Olu of Mushin, Alayeluwa Oba Fatai Ayinla expressed his appreciation to the NA on behalf of staffs, students of Alafia Oluwa Primary School and people of his community for choosing Mushin for these laudable projects.
Revealing the reason behind the choice of the School and communities, the facilitator of the projects, Maj Gen MA Yekini who is the Dean of the Combat Arms Research at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, an indigene of Mushin, stated that Alafia Oluwa Primary School was his foundation. He further thanked the COAS for approving and sponsoring the project, adding that it will positively impact on the people.
COAS harps on importance of training at NASFA commissioned Radio Diagnostic Centre at 68 Reference Hospital
Earlier, as he commissioned newly constructed classrooms, offices and students hostels for Nigerian Army School of Finance and Adminstration (NASFA) at Nigerian Army Cantonment, Arakan, Apapa-Lagos.
The COAS, harps on training of personnel as one of his cardinal points towards building a professional Nigerian Army.
He stated that training equips officers and soldiers on their professional conduct, saying, one of the key components of training is a conducive environment for learning which according to him, requires competent instructors, good structures and administration.
The COAS promised to continue to provide necessary infrastructure and other facilities in the Nigerian Army training institutions across the Nigerian Army.
Lieutenant General Yahaya commended the immediate and past leadership of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps especially the Chief of Budget and Finance (Army) Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo in conceptualising and execution of the project.
Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya also commissioned newly upgraded structure and modern equipment of the Radio-Diagnostic Centre at 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital.
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff reiterated his commitment to troops welfare and stated that building accomodations alone is not enough to boost troops morale. He expatiated that having standard hospitals with modern equipment to treat personnel and their families will boost morale and which is why his administration has remained committed to troops medical welfare since he took over the mantle of leadership of the NA.
While giving his opening remarks, the Acting Corps Commander Medical, Colonel Samson Okoigi thanked the COAS for all the support he has being giving to the corps in terms of infrastructure and equipment upgrade. He added that, the Chief of Army Staff has done well for the corps and requested that he should continue to do more.
