In a bid to ensure safe conduct of elections and ensure security of voters in Lagos State, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj Gen OC Ajunwa while patrolling Lagos State metropolis during the just concluded elections arrested some political thugs disturbing led troops on special operations against political thugs in some Polling Units in Lagos.
The GOC while patrolling round his Areas Of Responsibility which includes Lagos and Ogun States, arrested some hoodlums in Ajiran Area of Agungi, Lekki general area where hoodlums attacked polling units, deprived electorates to vote for their preferred candidates.
A resident of Arobale in Lekki general area who ran into the GOC during the patrol made a report to the troops on how he was assaulted, molested and intimidated by the political thugs while trying to cast his vote. Touched by the pathetic story, Gen Ajunwa rapidly responded to the situation as he directed troops to move to the location where some suspects were apprehended while others took to their heels on sighting the troops.
The GOC urged the residents to continue casting their votes as normalcy has been restored and never hesitate to report any security threats to Security Agencies so as to achieve a free, fair and credible election.
